He Died at His Home Near David City
Tuesday, May 14 [1914]
After an illness of nearly seven weeks with heart trouble, Wm. Kilgore died Tuesday evening, May 14, at his home just west of David City. A considerable share of the time during his illness he was seriously sick and for the past few weeks it was realized that he could not recover.
Mr. Kilgore, with his wife and family, had lived in Butler county for 25 years or more. Prior to that time he lived in Henderson county, Illinois, for ten years, having moved there in 1877 from York county, Pennsylvania.
His birthplace was in York county, Pennsylvania. The date of his birth was September 9, 1846.
In April, 1867, Mr. Kilgore was married to Miss Annaline Thomas.
Surviving Mr. Kilgore are his wife and five children, four sons and one daughter, two sisters residing in Pennsylvania and five brothers, one living in Pennsylvania, three in Illinois and one in Nebraska. The children are John Kilgore, of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Simon Kilgore, of Raymond; Martin and Harry Kilgore and Mrs. W.W. Boyer, all residing near David City.
Upon arriving in Butler County Mr. Kilgore and family located on a farm near Ware and resided there until three years ago when they moved to David City.
Mr. Kilgore was a member of the David City G. A. R. post. During the civil war he served in Co. D. 103, Pennsylvania Volunteers.
Mr. Kilgore had been a member of the Methodist church nearly forty years.
Funeral services will be held this [Thursday] afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in the Methodist church. Rev. Philip Smith, of the Methodist church in Rising City, will conduct the services. Interment will be in David City cemetery.
James Kilgore, of Henderson county, Ill. a brother of Mr. Kilgore, came Wednesday evening to be in attendance at the funeral. The two sons residing out of the county, John and Simon Kilgore, and Mrs. Simon Kilgore, also came to attend the funeral.
