BAUER, Ivan W


Ivan W. Bauer, 89, of Grand Island died Friday, April 23, 2004, at Tiffany Square Care Center in Grand Island. Services will be at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at the Stolley Park Church of Christ. Mr. Gary Bennett will officiate. Cremation will take place following the services. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 P.M. Monday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. Mr. Bauer was born January 28, 1915, at Weyerts, Nebraska to Fred G. and Mary Maria (Folkerts) Bauer. Ivan grew up and attended school in Lodgepole, NE graduating in 1931. He married Hazel Naomi Anderson on October 17, 1937, at Lincoln, NE. Ivan studied engineering at the University of Nebraska earning his degree in 1941. He worked as a civil engineer with the Nebraska Department of Roads. He then worked for the U. S. Soil Conservation Service and later for the Bureau of Reclamation. He enjoyed woodworking, remodeling his home and playing cards. Immediate survivors include his wife, Hazel of Grand Island; two daughters, Jan Anderson-Bauer of Grand Island and Niki Bauer of Phoenix, AZ; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Judy Bauer of Lincoln, NE, Bill Bauer and Sherry Musurlian-Bauer of San Clemente, Calif., and daughter-in-law, Carole Bauer of Moscow, Idaho; one sister, Pearl Kayton of Chappell, NE; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Herman and Millie Bauer of Spokane, Wash., Lloyd and Viola Bauer of Lodgepole, NE, and sister-in-laws, Margaret Bauer of Lodgepole and Nettie Bauer of Carpenteria, Calif. He is also survived by, 15 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by one son, Richard Bauer; four brothers, George, Louis, Alvin and Laverne Bauer and two sisters, Alzina Bauer and Leona Smith.
