Elton E. Weekley, 84, of Grand Island, died Thursday, February 19, 2004 at his home. Funeral services will be on Tuesday at 10:00 A.M. at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. The Rev. Alan Ellison will officiate. Burial will be at the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Mr. Weekley was born on April 25, 1919 in Hennepin County Minnesota to James and Sadie (Wales) Weekley. Survivors of the immediate family include six sons and four daughters-in-law, Arnold & Barb Weekley of Ham Lake, Minesota, Norman Weekley of Atkinson, Nebraska, Robert & Joyce Weekley of Atkinson, Nebraska, John & Karen Weekley of Shelton, Nebraska, Kerry Weekley of Grand Island, and Randy & Cheryl Weekley of Kearney; one daughter & son-in-law, Debra & Kevin Hopkins of San Angelo, Texas; and one sister, Violet Whitnell of Missouri. Additional survivors include 24 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. Mr. Weekley received his education in Minnesota. He married Pauline Youngquist of August 18, 1945 in Smith Center, Kansas. The couple lived in the Doniphan and Grand Island area. He was employed first by Missouri Valley Construction, then Community Refuge and Disposal, and then Kramer’s Iron and Metal. He retired in 2001. Mr. Weekley was a member of the Eagles. He enjoyed fishing, reading western books, baking food, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Pauline in 1982; one son, Steven Weekley in 1982; and two brothers, Arthur Weekley and Perry Weekley. Memorials are suggested to the family.
