WING, Dennis D


Dennis D. Wing, 61, of Grand Island, died Saturday January 24, 2004 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. Funeral services will be on Wednesday at 2:00 P.M. at Third City Christian Church. The Rev. Scott Jones will officiate. Burial will be at the Grand Island City Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. Mr. Wing was born on December 21, 1942 in Kearney, Nebraska to Ross and Eileen (Beck) Wing. Survivors of the immediate family include his wife, Carol of Grand Island; one daughter and son-in-law, Michelle & Neil Hamilton of Seattle, Washington; his mother, Eileen Wing of Grand; two brothers and sisters-in-laws, Rus & Ann Wing of Grand Island, and Randy & Barb Wing of Omaha; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Diane & Jim Schutt and Roslyn & Greg Dunning all of Tucson, Arizona, and Krysteen & Mike Hasselquist of Arizona City, Arizona. Mr. Wing received his education in Sutton and graduated from Sutton High School in 1961. He entered the U.S. Navy in February of 1964, and served for six years. He married Carol Joy on December 20, 1969 in Arnold, Nebraska. The couple lived in Kearney and then North Platte for six years. They moved to Grand Island in 1976. Mr. Wing was employed as a scales service technician for Wing's Scale Service for 34 years. He was an active member of Third City Christian Church where he served as a church elder for 28 years, and was the church treasurer for many years. He was also a member of the Grand Island Amateur Radio Society. Mr.Wing was preceded in death by his father, Ross on November 18, 2002.
