Paul B. Johnson, 66, of Grand Island, died Sunday, January 4, 2004 at his home following a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be on Thursday evening at 7:00 P.M. at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. The Rev. Jerry Quandt will officiate. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5:00 P.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home. There will also be a visitation from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Friday at the Powers Funeral Home in Pocahontas, Iowa. Funeral services in Pocahontas will be on Saturday morning at 10:00 A.M. at the Methodist Church. The Rev. Robert Johnson will officiate. Burial will be at the Summit Hill Cemetery in Pocahontas. Mr. Johnson was born on November 5, 1937 in Ware, Iowa to Walter and Beatrice (Eaton) Johnson. Survivors of the immediate family include his wife, Sally of Grand Island; daughters and sons-in-law, Kelly & Jon Fitchhorn, and Pamela & Dick Fieldgrove all of Grand Island, son and daughter in law, Terry & Laurie Parde of San Jose, CA., daughter and son-in-law Kim & Jeff Crowder of Gig Harbor, Washington, and daughter Paula Johnson of Washington; sons and daughters-in-law, Bob & Stacy Johnson of Yutan, NE., Joe & Jody Johnson of Auburn, WA., and Steve Johnson of Billings, Montana. Additional survivors include 19 grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Don & Sharon Johnson of Grand Island, Dick Johnson of Sioux City, IA.; two sisters and one brother-in law Virginia & Don McEnany of Shell Rock, Iowa, Grace Martens of Atlantic, Iowa; and one sister-in-law, Joyce Johnson of Minnesota. Paul is also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, and many friends. Special friends include Barb & Jerry Dunning, Wade Williby, Mike, Carrie, Travis, and Brian Keene, Jim & Meves Reiter, and Teddy Tate Mr. Johnson was baptized at the United Methodist Church and attended school in Pocahontas. Paul joined the Army reserves for three years, and then joined the United States Air Force, serving 8 years. He married Sally Parde on June 5, 1976 in Kearney, Nebraska. After serving his country, Paul was the district manager for Derby Oil, and then Bosselman's from 1977 until 1980. In 1980, he owned and operated his own full service station known as Paul's Sinclair. Due to health, Paul retired in 2000. He then managed Diers Motor Company until November of 2003. Paul was an active member of the Masons, Elks, Eagles, Platte Duetsche, Legion Post #18, Saddle Club, and he held several offices in the Elks and Eagles. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Grand Island. Paul enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren, wintering in Texas, and collecting Sinclair memorabilia. Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Paul Lyle, and David, and two brothers, Wally and Robert Johnson.
