Nancy was born May 5, 1944, to Lester and Joan (Verley) Buckles in Mankato, Kan. They moved to Cowles, where her father’s family farmed. She attended Cowles Consolidated School through her 14th year. Five siblings followed her, Jim, Elizabeth, Gayle, Julie and Gary. They moved to Hastings after the untimely death of her father Lester in 1958. She then attended and graduated in 1962 from Hastings High School.
She began her college career at Hastings College. She then followed her mother and siblings to Seattle, Wash., in 1964. She continued her education at the University of Washington. She met and married Willard L. Salsgiver in November 1967. They had two children, Jane Arlene and Neil Elliot. They were divorced in 1978.
She returned to the University of Washington to complete her degree at the School of Social Work in 1980. She was active with the local YMCA and her church.
She was busy with work and raising her two children when she met Walter F. Theimer in July of 1986. They blended two families into one with his two children, Eric and Dave.
Walt and Nancy spent the next 26 years living, loving and laughing, moving from West Seattle to the Snoqualmie Valley, first to Duvall, Wash., then to Fall City, Wash., and finally returning “home” to Nebraska in 2006. She continued her social work by volunteering with Asera Care Hospice and ministering to widows until she became one herself.
Nancy is survived by her children, Jane and Neil, and by her stepchildren, Eric and Dave; nine grandchildren; sisters Gayle and Julie; as well as brothers Jim and Gary.
She was preceded in death by her husband in March 2012, her parents and Sister Elizabeth.
