ELGIN — David C. Grundman Jr., 40, of Oakdale died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012, at his home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Elgin with burial in the Oakdale Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Friday at Huffman-Levander Funeral Home in Elgin.

David Charles Grundman Jr., son of David C. Grundman Sr. and Janelle E. Loges, was born Jan. 14, 1972, at Omaha. He attended Logan-Magnolia High School in Logan, Iowa, graduating with the class of 1990. Following graduation, he worked for Perfection Form and Perfection Press for a few years and then worked at various convenience stores, including Taylor Quick Pik in Blair, Kum and Go in Missouri Valley, Iowa, and Sinclair in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
He also worked at the No Frills Supermarket in Blair before moving to Oakdale in the spring of 1997. David began working for Guard-Rite Security at Nucor Steel and Norfolk Iron and Metal, receiving a promotion to lieutenant of both accounts in 2003. In 2005, he moved to Indiana for a few months before returning to Oakdale, where he worked at Mr. S’s Convenient Store for several years.
David was an avid fan of Star Trek, compiling a large collection of memorabilia. He also enjoyed collecting elephants. He was a charitable person who spent much time helping others.
He is survived by five siblings, Dalynna (Tommie Jr.) Robertson of Elgin, Justin (Jill) Fauss of Mt. Lebanon, Pa., Darrell (Kelly) Weed of Norfolk, Jessica Grundman of Oakdale, Donnelle Weed and special friend Matt Wright of Oakdale; nine nephews and nieces, Ryan (Jenny) Robertson, Thomas Allen Dobberstine, Katelyn Fauss, Nathanial Grundman, Kaylee Weed, Cameran McKirdy, Elizabeth Weed, Calib McKirdy and Darrell Weed Jr.; one great-nephew, Hunter Robertson; along with aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
David was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and one brother, Jeff Grundman.
