REINERT, Roy Peter


Roy Peter Reinert, son of Charles W. and Ellen M. (Bowland) Reinert, was born March 31, 1909, in Burt County, near Tekamah, Nebraska. In the spring of 1919, the family moved to Ainsworth and in 1928 the family moved north of Johnstown to the present Heart Seven Ranch where Roy spent the rest of his life, except for the three and one-fourth years that he spent serving his country in North Africa and Italy during WWII. On September 16, 1945, he was united in marriage to Bertha M. Schenk at Ainsworth. This union was blessed with four children; Barbara, Mary, Richard and Ronald. Roy was baptized and became a member of the Johnstown United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #79, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Polar Bear Association of WWII and served as treasurer of the Brown County Agriculture Society for many years. He served on the Selective Service Board for ten years and was a board member of the Ainsworth Community Center. Roy was a devoted family man and neighbor who loved helping others. He often left his work undone when someone else needed help. His special kind of humor delighted all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Guy and Arthur. He leaves to mourn his passing, wife Bertha and their four children: Barbara Louise Dumas and husband Jerry of Lake Havasu City, AZ; Mary Elaine McCormick and husband Bob, of Norfolk, NE; Richard LeRoy Reinert and wife Chris, of North Platte, NE; and Ronald Eugene Reinert and wife Stephanie, of Crawfordsville, IN; nine grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and a host of relatives and friends. Roy left this earth to meet the Lord on August 3, 1998 at the Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha, NE. Funeral Services were held on Thursday, August 6, 1998 at the United Methodist Church in Ainsworth with the Reverend Gerald H. Schwarz officiating. Music was provided by Marilyn Williams and Deanna Taylor. Casket bearers were: Paul Hermsmeyer, Royce Greder, Arvin Schmidt, Brent Johnson, Blair Williams, and Jerry Jackman. Honorary casket bearers were: Glen Williams, Miles Graff, Luther Eggers, Leslie Graff, Elmer Andersen, and Dean Graff. Military Honors were conducted by American Legion Post #79 Memorials were suggested to the Johnstown United Methodist Church, the Ainsworth Senior Center or the American Legion. Hoch Funeral Home of Ainsworth was in charge of arrangements.
