| Genevieve Wilshusen, the daughter of Julius Frederick and Myrtle (Pollard) Splinter, was born January 5, 1912 in Hampton, Nebraska and died in Grand Island, Nebraska on April 19, 2007, at the age of 95. She was raised in Hampton and attended country schools in Hampton one mile east of the family homestead through the 8th grade. Genevieve was united in marriage to Arnold Wilshusen on September 25, 1937 at Aurora, Nebraska. Following their marriage they resided in Hampton and in 1944 they moved to Aurora. Arnold passed away on May 23, 1982. Genevieve was a lifelong member of the Aurora First Christian Church and CWF. She enjoyed gardening and flowers. Genevieve loved her Boston Terriers and horses and had enjoyed riding horses. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Wilbur and Leonard Splinter, and sister, Imogene Florea. Those left to cherish her memory are her 2 sons, Conley Wilshusen of Grand Island, and Stanley (Karen) Wilshusen of Aurora; 3 grandchildren, Tammy (Bruce) Johnson of Chappell, Kevin Wilshusen of Las Cruces, New Mexico, and Angela (Mike) Burnett of Lincoln; 5 great-grandchildren and 2 step-great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Lois and Lucille Splinter; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. |
