Husband of Genevieve Splinter, who he married on 25 Sep, 1937. ----- Arnold Henry Wilshusen, the son of Fred and Lydia (Light) Wilshusen, was born in Hamilton County, Nebraska, on August 25, 1908, and passed away at Omaha, Nebraska, on May 23, 1982, at the age of 73 years, 8 months and 28 days. He grew to manhood in Hamilton County, and obtained his education in the Hampton Schools. In 1933 he began working for Herman Hines in a produce store in Hampton. On September 26, 1937, he was united in marriage to Genevieve Splinter at Aurora. In 1940, he started his own produce business in Hampton, and in 1944, he moved the business to Aurora, remaining in the produce business for 24 years. He also did commercial spraying and trucking for 23 years, retiring in 1980. He had also been a grain and milk inspector. Arnold was baptized and confirmed in the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church in Hampton, and in later years attended the First Christian Church in Aurora. He belonged to the Hampton Commercial Club several years, and was a charter member of the Hampton Fire Department. He was secretary of the Hampton cemetery board for several years and had belonged to the Aurora Chamber of Commerce for several years. He was preceded in death by his father, 2 sisters, Mabel Wilshusen and Elsie Bell, and one brother Ervin. Those who survive to cherish his memory are his wife Genevieve of Aurora; two sons, Conley of Grand Island and Stanley of Aurora; 2 sisters, Mrs. Freda Bestor of Kansas City, Missouri and Mrs. Laura Travis of Lincoln, Nebraska; his mother Lydia of Lincoln, 3 grandchildren, Tammy, Kevin and Angela, all of Aurora and many other relatives and close friends. |
