Dale Kay, 90, of Wakefield, died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012 at the Wakefield Health Care Center.
Services will be Friday, Nov. 2 at 2 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wakefield with Pastor William Bertrand officiating. Burial will be in the Wakefield Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, Nov. 1 from 3-8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Thompson Chapel Funeral Home in Wakefield.
Dale John Kay was born July 13, 1922 to John and Martha (Long) Kay at Wakefield. He attended rural school and worked on the farm. He was married to Cora Martinson in the early 40's and the couple farmed until the family moved into Wakefield in 1955-56. Dale worked for various employers in Wakefield, including Connor Trucking, Salmon Well, and Milton G. Waldbaum Company. For many years Dale was a city police officer for Wakefield. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Many memories of deer hunts are shared among family members.
Survivors include three daughters, Patricia Biggerstaff, Sandra Geiger, and Jill and Joe Allvin, all of Wakefield; 16 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Cora; brothers, Fred (Bud), Merle, and Short and sisters, Ollie, Mildred (Sis), Dorothy, and Vernetta and one great-granddaughter, Brenna.
Pallbearers will be grandsons Dennis Biggerstaff, Larry Jacobsen, Shane Jacobsen, Lance Jacobsen, Matt Peterson and Josh Peterson.
Thompson Chapel Funeral Home in Wakefield is in charge of arrangements.
