Floyd W. Henton, son of Floyd O. and Margaret (Werrebroeck) Henton, died
Nov. 17, 1980, in Omaha. He lived at 12705 S. 67th St., Sarpy County.
When he was a boy, he traveled in circuses with his uncle, who was a
performer. He graduated from Technical High School.
He directed the Riverview Park Zoo in Omaha from 1953-1962. He had his
own business, Henton Photography Studio, from 1962-1967 and worked at
the Union Pacific Railroad from 1967 to February 1974, when he became ill
with heart trouble.
For 14 years he was active in the Nebraska State Fair, organizing the
Henton Variety Show. For 12 years he was a board member of Union Pacific
Junior Old Timers Club No. 1. He was a member of the American Institute of
Park Executives, the American Association of Zoological Parks and
Aquariums and the Bellevue Lions Club and director of the Circus Fans
Association of America. His children Michael and Jane were first place
winners in the first Papillion Lions Club talent contest in their age groups in
1977.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane; daughter, Jane; son, Michael, all of
Omaha; mother, Mrs. Margaret Hanson of Omaha; sisters, Mrs. E. O.
Petersen of Omaha and Mrs. C. Bitney of Omaha, uncle, Rex Young of
Plattsmouth.
Funeral services were held Wed. Nov. 19, at St. Paul's United Methodist
Church in Papillion with the Rev. Francis Schmidt officiating. Mrs. Becky
Crofoor sang "In the Garden" and "How Great Thou Art" accompanied by
LaDonna Johnson. Interment was at Cedar Dale Cemetery. Pallbearers were
Ed Petersen, Steve Petersen, Dale Miller, Robert Gaddie, Michael Whitley
and William Jepsen.
Kahler-Dolce Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
