NICKEL, Walden "Slim"

Walden (Slim) Nickel, 90, of Western, passed away Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012 at Jefferson Community Health Center in Fairbury.

He was born June 8, 1922, ini Western to Arthur and Martha Howe Nickel. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Raymond, Homer and an infant brother, sister May Gross. He is survived by his wife, Zola, daughters, Janice Anderson and husband, Larry, of DeWitt; Kathy Goolsby and husband, Bradley, of Western; sons, Dwight and Pam Nickel of Western; Robert and Susan Nickel of Western; and Duane and Loretta Nickel of Swanton; 13 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; a brother Waldo Nickel of Lincoln.

Funeral will be held Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Evangelical United Church of Christ in Western with Pastor Glenda Jardine officiating. Burial will be in the Plainview Cemetery in Western. Memorials are suggested to the family's choice. Viewing will be in Western. Family will greet friends on Friday, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Meyer Funeral Home in Western is in charge of arrangements.
