SPALDING — Richard L. “Rick” Herian, 56, of Albion died Friday, Dec. 12, 2014, at the Boone County Health Center in Albion following a battle with cancer.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Spalding with the Revs. Matthew Koperski and James Muphy officiating and burial at the parish cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the church with a 7 p.m. wake service and resume 8:30-10 a.m. Wednesday at Dolce-Scheef Mortuary in Spalding.

Richard Lee “Rick” Herian, son of Norman and Agnes (Runge) Herian, was born Sept. 21, 1958, at Norfolk. He attended Pierce country School District 56 southwest of Pierce through second grade, then Pierce Public Schools, and graduated from Pierce High School in 1976. He lived in Pierce and worked for Midwest Bridge in Norfolk until 1985, when he moved to West Point.
On Oct. 17, 1986, Rick married Mary Burger at West Point. He worked in various jobs around West Point until moving to Richland in 1990 to work for A. Glenn Kluck Feedlots. In 1993, they moved to rural Albion, where Rick worked for Sands, Jim O’Brien, Bruce Keber and for the past eight years, Noble Land and Cattle, as a cowhand.
Rick was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Spalding. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, hunting, working with his cow/calf herd and going to auctions.
He is survived by his wife, Mary of rural Albion; three sons, Seth (Jessica) Herian of Paxton, Joshua (Jessica) Herian and children Riley, Hanna, Parker and Makenna of Kearney; Lucus (Lindsay) Herian and children Nevaeh, Michael and Zoey of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; his mother, Agnes Herian of Pierce; two brothers, Joe (Kathy) Herian of Norfolk, Jim (Diane) Herian of Pierce; two sisters, Kathy (Ken) Duvall of Pierce, Barb Oppliger of Pierce; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Rick was preceded in death by his grandparents and father Norman Herian.
