Mike Niemann, 53, of Wayne died Thursday, Aug. 21, 2014 at the family's lake home near Crofton.
Services will be held Tuesday, Aug. 26 at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Wayne, The Revs. Michael Feldmann and Rev. Carl Lilienkamp will officiate. Visitation will be held Monday, Aug. 25 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Wayne with family present.
Michael Gregg Niemann was born Jan. 6, 1961, in Wayne to Edward Niemann and Nancy (Graef) Niemann. He graduated from Wayne High School in 1979. Mike married Jill (Williams) June 8, 1996, at Grace Lutheran Church in Wayne. The couple lived in Wayne, continued as members of Grace Lutheran Church and enjoyed attending community functions and Wayne High sporting events. For the last 13 years, Mike was a professional truck driver for Johnson Feed, Inc., and he was accident-free for over 1.7 million miles. Mike had a deep love for his family and cherished the moments he spent playing with his granddaughter, Ella, teaching her how to love life as much as he did. No one could miss his loud hearty laugh. An avid walleye fisherman, Mike spent many hours finding “secret” fishing holes up at Lewis and Clark Lake, where the couple enjoyed leisure time at their lake home. He had a love for perusing the aisles at Cabela’s and searching for the next best Walleye lure and fishing gear.
Survivors include his wife, Jill; daughter Jacey (Scott) Bahe of Gretna; granddaughter Ella Rae; father, Edward (Audrey) Niemann of Papillion; mother, Nancy Niemann of Winside; brothers, Roger (Carol) Niemann of Wayne, Joey (Lisa) Niemann of Wayne, Mark Niemann of New Albany, Ind.; father-in-law Dean Williams of Williams, Iowa; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Otto and Minnie Graef and Edward and Alma Niemann; mother-in-law, Lois Williams; brothers-in-law, Jon Williams and Steven Williams.
Pallbearers will be Mark Wacker, Jerry Allemann, Joel Jorgensen, Dennis Murray, Bob Reinhardt and Dave Jaeger.
Memorials may be directed in care of the Niemann family for later designation.
Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Wayne. Hasemann Funeral Home in Wayne is in charge of arrangements.
