Luella Schenk
Luella Mae Schenk, 92, died Wednesday, January 9, at the Aurora Memorial Hospital Long Term Care Center.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Solt Funeral Home. The Rev. Bob Neben officiated. Burial was in the Central City Cemetery.
Organist was Edna Shull and vocalist Deb Senkible sang “In the Garden” and “Rock of Ages”.
Pallbearers were Don Hansen, Tony Greger, Tim Anderson, Steve Sinsel, Eugene Schenk and Fred Schenk, Jr.
Mrs. Schenk was born February 21, 1898, at Osmond to Fred and Martha (Kahler) Wallenstein. She received her education at Long Pine and in rural Brown County.
She married George Schenk March 1, 1916 in Ainsworth. He died September 25, 1964. They farmed in the Johnstown area and moved to Central City in 1946. She worked in numerous businesses. She was a nurses aide at the Hord Memorial Hospital; managed the Redman Shoe Store; was a sales clerk for Nordstedt’s Clothing and owned and operated the Lone Tree Drive Inn. In 1964 she owned and operated the Cut and Sew Fabric Shop. She retired in 1974.
She moved to Aurora Long Term Care Center in 1976.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Central City, WSCS, charter member of the BPW of Central City and to the District 8 Extension Club.
She is survived by one daughter, Vivian (Mrs. Don) Anderson of Central City; 7 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one son Frederick, and three sisters.
