(Maiden Name: Pearson)
Anita Nicholson, 86, died Friday, December 13, 2013 at the Wakefield Health Care Center. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17th at the Wakefield Christian Church. Anita June Nicholson was born June 1, 1927 at rural Wakefield, Nebraska to Walter and Alta (Fischer) Pearson. She graduated from Wakefield High School and attended a Business School in Sioux City, Iowa. She worked at a Wayne, Nebraska bank for a short time. Anita then married Bricie Nicholson in July 1, 1950, celebrating sixty-three years; the couple spent a life time on the farm prior the move into the Wakefield Health assisted living Center.
Anita’s experiences of farm life naturally brought the daily task of caring and assisting in a neighborhood and church to a gracious perspective. She started a continuing tradition in her family of going each year to a Mondamin, Iowa apple orchard to pick apples. Anita taught Sunday School for fifty years and was a member of King’s Daughters of the Wakefield Christian Church and worked in the church activities. She was also a member of the neighborhood Sunshine Social Club. She always attended the events of her grandchildren.
Grateful for sharing her life are her husband Bricie of Wakefield, children; Tom (Donna) of Gretna, NE, Jerry(Lori) of Emerson, NE, Lou Ann(Mark) Chaplin of Wymore, NE and Pat (Debra) of Wakefield, NE. Included are ten grandchildren: Melanie (Bryan) Wellman, Marine Captain Kevin Nicholson currently serving in Afghanistan, Evan Nicholson, Jason (Belinda) Chaplin, Melissa (Scott) Blackwell, Tyson Chaplin, Nathan Nicholson, Cory Nicholson, Brady Nicholson, Brendan Nicholson, and six great-grandchildren. Also included is one sister, Vonis (Larry) Schroeder of Kansas.
