WAKEFIELD — John Edward Malmberg, 59, died Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013, at a Sioux City, Iowa, hospital as a result of injuries sustained from a traffic accident on Highway 98 west of Wayne. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Thompson Chapel Funeral Home in Wakefield. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday. Burial of the urn will be in Springbank Friends Church Cemetery at Allen. ——— John Edward Malmberg was born May 10, 1954, at Sioux City to parents Arvid and Willadene (Ellis) Malmberg. John graduated from Allen High School in 1973. He graduated from Haviland, Kan., Bible College and returned to the farm. His major interests were tending to his livestock and enjoyment of his dogs. As a sports spectator, he would often take his nephews to the Nebraska Husker games. A new hobby was playing golf. Survivors include his parents, Arvid and Willadene of Norfolk; a sister, Marie and Bob Janke of Wayne; and nephews Brent and Cara Janke and their son, Logan of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Michael Janke of Wayne; as well as numerous cousins.
