EWING, Alva O.

HARTINGTON — Alva O. Ewing, 99, Hartington, died June 11, 2012, at the Golden Living Center, Hartington. Memorial Services were June 15 at the Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington, with Rev. Gary Kimm officiating. Inurnment was in the Wynot City Cemetery. Alva was born March 17, 1913, at Central City, to Everett and Mildred (Smith) Ewing. He grew up in Central City and Allen, moving to Wynot in 1931. He graduated from Wynot High School in 1934 and then did farm work until 1954. At that time he began doing carpentry and electrical work. He was also the caretaker of the Wynot City Cemetery for 12 years. In 1988, he moved into Hartington and then moved to the Pine Lane Assisted Living in 2004. He had been a resident of the Golden Living Center since January 27, 2011. Alva is survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and two brothers.
