Dorothy (Shaner) Bartee
NORFOLK — Memorial services for Dorothy Bartee, 94, of Battle Creek will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Home for Funerals in Norfolk. The Rev. Donna Goltry will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Union Cemetery south of Battle Creek.
She died at home on Saturday, Dec. 24, 2016
Dorothy was born on Sept. 25, 1922, the daughter of George and Ethel (Lindsey) Shaner in Lancaster, Ohio. She was raised in Ohio and graduated from Lancaster High School.
On May 29, 1940, in Granville, Ohio, Dorothy married Donald “Butch” Bartee. The couple made their home in Ohio before moving to Nebraska in 1955.
Dorothy was employed in the Madison County Extension Office prior to having a 25-year career with the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service office in Battle Creek.
She enjoyed gardening and cooking for her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her spouse of 64 years in 2004; a daughter, Blanche Herndon in 2009; and six siblings.
Dorothy is survived by one son, Donald Bartee of Battle Creek; three grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, Buck Shaner of Lancaster, Ohio.
