Patrick "Mr. Pat". E. Merchant, 82, of Sioux City passed away at his home Sunday, July 24, 2016, while surrounded by his family. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. at Nativity Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. Steven McLoud officiating. Private burial with military rites will be in Graceland Cemetery, Sioux City. Visitation with the family present will begin 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City. Pat was born in Jackson, NE, on August 28, 1933, the son of Ernest and Margaret (Hodgins) Merchant. He graduated from Jackson High School. Pat married Patricia Rush on September 5, 1955. Patricia passed away on November 30, 2015. Pat served in the US army from 1955 to 1957,owned service stations and farms, retired young and loved to travel. Pat was a member of Nativity Church in Sioux City and a 4th Degree Knight in the South Sioux City Knights of Columbus. He loved a good nap, a great western, junk food, anything on sale (or free!), playing the stock market and watching his family enjoy the pool. He was truly proud of his family and made sure he told them he loved them every time he saw them. Survivors include his children, Paula (Rick) Ashcraft, Kelli (Cody) Harris and Kirk (Diane) Merchant; grandchildren, Cameron, McKenzie, Courtney and Danielle; great-grandchildren, Brooklynn, Noah, Cole, Caden, Lincoln and Jackson; and brothers, Joe, Mick and Tim Merchant. Pat was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Margaret Merchant; his wife, Patricia Merchant; and siblings, Mary Jean and Paul.
