| Susan D. Church, 68, of rural Dakota City passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 17, 2016, surrounded by her family after an extended illness. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Michael Catholic Church in So. Sioux City, with the Rev. David Fulton officiating. Burial will be in Dakota City Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with a Scriptural wake service at 7 p.m., at Becker-Hunt Funeral Home. Susan Delores Smith was born on November 27, 1947, in Sioux City, the daughter of Harold H. and Mary (Hartnett) Smith. She graduated from South Sioux City High School in 1965. She married William L. "Bill" Church on April 23, 1966, at St. Michael Catholic Church in South Sioux City. She was employed at IBP for 38 years. After her retirement, she was a loving homemaker. Susan was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church. Survivors include her husband, Bill; a son, Brian Church of Dakota City, and his daughter, Briann Church; a daughter and her husband, Angela and Mark Schmith of Dakota City, and their children, Taylor, Kelsey and Nicholas Schmith; three brothers, C. Robert smith of Glendale, AZ, Butch and his wife, Pat Smith of Yorba Linda, CA, and Jack and his wife, Jeanne Smith of Rapid City, SD; two sisters, Peggie Schroeder of South Sioux City, and Doris and her husband, Alan Knutson of Centerville, SD; and many other family members and friends who loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, James Robert Church; a brother, Ronnie; a sister, Judie Wisnieski; and her mother and father-in-law, Alen and Lyle Church. Pallbearers will be Nicholas Schmith, Brent Wisnieski, Rick and Randy Schroeder, Brad Burhoop, Joe, Tom and John Jacobson. |
