Phyllis "Joanne" (Harder) Rahn

Phyllis "Joanne" Rahn, 84, of Allen, NE passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, IA.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, May 2, 2016 at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Dixon, NE with Father David Liewer officiating. Burial will be in Calvary at South Creek Cemetery in rural Ponca, NE. Visitation will begin at 5:00 P.M., with the family present at 6:00 P.M. and a scriptural wake service at 7:00 P.M. on Sunday, May 1, 2016 at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca.

Joanne was born on December 9, 1931 in rural Ponca, NE, the daughter of Rudolph and Margaret (Weber) Harder. She graduated from Ponca High School in 1949. Joanne married Paul Rahn of Newcastle, NE on April 12, 1950 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Ponca. She was a homemaker and also worked as Director of the Allen Senior Center for 25 years and Director of Senior Housing Authority.

She was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church and Altar Society in Dixon, the Allen American Legion Auxiliary, Martinsburg VFW Gasser Post 5435 and served as an EMT and Fire Dept. member for the Allen Volunteer Fire Dept. She was also a member of the 9 Patch Quilt Club and Elf Extension Club of Allen. Joanne enjoyed spending time with her family, quilting, family history, square dancing, playing cards, "going wherever the bus goes", and going to the Allen Senior Center.

Survivors include her children, Sharon (Ray) Brentlinger and Gary Rahn of Allen, NE, Terry (Marvel) Rahn of Wakefield, NE, David "George" (Jean) Rahn and Donna (Roger) Kraft of Allen, NE; 11 grandchildren, Paul and Pat Brentlinger, Penny (Michael) Fehringer, Craig (Melissa) Rahn, Carla Rahn, Kenneth, Lyle, and Duane Rahn, Crystal (Brian) Fuoss, Lathan and Landon Kraft; 16 great-grandchildren, Casey Brentlinger, Marissa, Garrett and Hailie Brentlinger, Michaela, Miranda, Maggie and Jacob Fehringer, Skyler and Sydney Rahn, Case Rahn, Laken, Mylee and Hunter Rahn, Linkin and Raegin Rahn; a brother, David (Karen) Harder of Ponca; sister-in-law, Gerry Juhlin of Newcastle, NE; and many nieces and nephews.

Joanne was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Rahn in 1982; her parents, Rudolph and Margaret Harder; 2 sisters, Baby Mary and Bonnie Harison; and numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
