|William J. "Bill" Enders, 79, of rural Ponca passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2016, at Elms Health Care Center in Ponca.|
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Ponca, with the Rev. Andrew Sohm officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation with the family will be 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with a Scriptural wake service at 8 p.m., at the church. Visitation will resume 9:30 a.m. until service time Monday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca.
Bill was born on April 11, 1936, in rural Ponca, the son of Darrel and Josephine (Rush) Enders. He graduated from Ponca Public High School in 1953. He served in the U.S. Army for two years, including one year in Ingrandese, France. After the service, he farmed with his dad.
Bill married Sheila Buckley on February 1, 1964, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Maurice, IA. The couple continued to farm until his retirement.
He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and enjoyed farming and raising livestock.
Survivors include his wife, Sheila Enders of Ponca; one son, Dan (Mary) Enders of Des Moines; a sister, Betty Jamieson of Denver, CO; a brother, Richard (Darlene) Enders of Colorado Springs, CO; and several nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Darrel and Josephine Enders; a brother, Paul Enders; and a brother-in-law, Robert Jamieson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Ponca Fire and Rescue or St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
