George David Walsh

George D. "Dave" Walsh, 76, of South Sioux City passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2016, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in South Sioux City, with the Rev. David Fulton officiating. Burial will be in Calvary at South Creek Cemetery in rural Ponca, NE. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Monday, with the family present at 6 p.m., and a Scriptural wake service at 7:30 p.m., at Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City.
Dave was born on November 26,1939, in Ponca, NE, the son of Ralph and Pearl (Quinn) Walsh. He graduated from Waterbury Consolidated School in Waterbury, NE, and attended Wayne State College before entering the National Guard. He worked for the railroad in Lincoln, NE, and then went on to work for Terra Chemicals, where he worked as a supervisor and retired after a long career.
Dave enjoyed bowling, golfing and watching the horse races, especially the years at Atokad Park.
Survivors include his life partner, Jerri Balke of South Sioux City, and her children and granddaughter, Brian Balke of South Sioux City, and Brenda (Bart) Gawlikowski and Ava of Lake Helen, FL; one brother, Sam (Lynn) Walsh of Sioux City; a brother-in-law, Alan Cooley of Buffalo Grove, IL; and many nieces and nephews.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Pearl Walsh; three sisters; and one brother.
