| John "Johnnie" Hartnett, 83, of Sioux City passed away Thursday, October 25, 2012, at a Sioux city hospital. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Mohr Funereal Home in South Sioux City, with the Rev. Paul Albenisius officiating. Private burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. John was born on September 25, 1929, in Sioux City, the son of Thomas Sylvester and Mary (Schoenherr) Hartnett. He worked at the Sioux City Stockyards and part-time at Sorenson Standard. John loved to be outdoors and tell his friends and neighbors stories. He enjoyed his grandkids and great-grandkids. John was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Knights of Columbus, Elks Lodge 112, and the American Legion Post 307. Survivors include his daughter, Laury (Larry) Mahr of Dakota City; two grandchildren, Jaclyn Mahr and Jennifer Anderson; and four great-grandchildren, Garrett, Gracey Jo, Wyatt and Jaspor. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Dick; two sisters, Louella and Gloria; and two sons, Wayne Scott Hartnett and Steve Chancy Hartnett. |
