Terry F. Nelson, 68, of rural Jackson passed away Monday, January 6, 2014, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Jackson, with the Rev. Paul Albenesius officiating. Burial will be at a later date in St. John's Cemetery, rural Jackson. Visitation with the family will begin at noon Thursday with a rosary and will continue until service time. Arrangements are under the direction of Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca, NE.
Terry was born on May 10, 1945, in Sioux City, the son of Jim and Helen (Kneifl) Nelson. He graduated from Emerson Sacred Heart in Emerson, NE. He attended seminary in Elkhorn, NE, and graduated from a two-year business college. He was employed most of his life at the Dixon County Feedlot in rural Allen, NE.
His two passions were genealogy and cooking.
Survivors include two children, Kim (Kelly) Hansen of Carroll, NE, and Terry Jo "TJ" (Jamie) Nelson of Staplehurst, NE; seven grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; a brother, John (Gayle) Nelson of Sioux City; sisters, Mary (Gene) Hogan, Patti (Ken) Dinges and Judi (Jim) Dinges, all of Jackson, and Karla (Kent) Carnell of Ponca; special friend, Junior Lovejoy of Jackson; and many nieces and nephews.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Helen Nelson; and two nephews, Kurt Dinges and Danny Nelson.
