Leonard Wesley Johnston

Leonard Wesley "Wes" Johnston, 81, of Sioux City, formerly of Waterbury, NE, passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2015, at Westwood Nursing & Rehab Center in Sioux City.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City, with military rites conducted by the Jackson and South Sioux City American Legion Posts. Visitation with the family present will begin two hours prior to the service Monday at the funeral home.
Leonard Wesley Johnston was born October 22, 1933. Wes graduated from Allen High School, Class of 1951. On July 10, 1953, he began his military service in the US Army at Fort Benning, GA. He was a Korean War Veteran. In 1955, Wes won the light/middleweight Golden Gloves Boxing for the United States Army. In 1961, West graduated from the University of Nebraska with a bachelor's degree. He possessed many skills throughout his lifetime, top real estate agent, automotive repair specialist, natural fix-it, carpenter, farmer, businessman, and special father.
Wes is survived by Maizie, his partner and soulmate; Maizie's daughter, Renee, husband, Brad Gunderson; Gunner, Byrgin, Silja; Maizie's son, Loni Johnston and wife, Suk Cha; Mailla, Kyla, Justin, Aiden, Jijung; Wes' son, Benjamin Johnston and Connie; Aaron, Christopher; his daughter, Mable LeeAnn West-Malm, husband, Jon; Lance, Landon, Elizabeth, Jonathan; and brothers, Warren and Robin Johnston.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy, Mable and Frances Johnston; and a brother, Willard Johnston.
