Alice (McGinty) Goetz

Alice Goetz, 101, of Hartington died Thursday, Dec. 25, 1997, at the Hartington Nursing Center.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Hartington, with the Rev. William Sanderson officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today, with a vigil service at 7 p.m., at the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington.

Mrs. Goetz was born Sept. 16, 1896, in Neola, Iowa, the daughter of James and Alice (Maxfield) McGinty. The family moved to Hartington when she was a child. She graduated from Hartington High School and received her registered nurse degree from the Rush Medical School in Chicago, Ill. She lived in Craig, Colo.

She married Henry L. Goetz on Aug. 23, 1923, in Denver, Colo. He died March 31, 1965. The couple returned to Hartington. She entered the Hartington Nursing Center in February 1987.

She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, the Catholic Daughters of America and the Solitaires. She was a former member of the Library Board and served as a 4-H leader for many years.

Survivors include a son, Jim Sr. of Yankton, S.D.; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death two sons, Max and John in infancy; a grandson, Bob Goetz; three sisters; and a brother.

Pallbearers will be John, Jim Jr., Bruce and Cody Goetz, Dan Beckmann, John Corcoran and Brad Kollars.
