Henry Todd, Jr.

Henry William Todd, Jr., 90, of Waterbury passed away Monday, August 18, 2014, at his residence.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Jackson, NE, with the Rev. Paul Albenesius officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with a parish vigil service at 7 p.m., all at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Larkin Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home in Sioux City.
Henry William Todd, Jr. was born on July 18, 1924, in Correctionville, IA to Henry William, Sr. and Cassie Eliza (Adamson) Todd. Henry served in the 2nd Marine Division 8th Brigade in Okinawa during World War II, during which he was wounded during the occupation of Japan. He earned the Presidential Unit Citation ribbon, Marine Corps Sharpshooters Badge, Asiatic Pacific Campaign with two Bronze Stars, World War II Victory Medal, Honorable Service Lapel Button, and Marine Corps Honorable Discharge Button.
He married Margaret Eickholt in 1947 and they divorced in 1966. Henry married Jeannine Mathiesen in December 1972. Henry farmed in Washta, IA for five years, Merrill, IA for four years, and Correctionville for three years. Henry then moved to Sioux City in 1960, where he worked at Armour and Co., city of Merrill, Sioux City Parks and Recreation Department, and Rosenthal's Foods. Henry and Jeannine purchased the farm in Waterbury in 1974 and farmed on their own until they retired in 2002.
Family and the farm were his life. The family would like to thank Sharon Kneifl for her loving care the past two years.
Survivors include his daughters, Melody (Rick) Aadland of Dakota Dunes, SD, Patricia (Bob) Ingram of Charles City, IA, Donna (Jerry) Schroeder of Allen, NE, Barbara (Jerry) Baumgart of Lawrenceville, GA, and April (Steve) Rahn of Jackson, NE; sons, Randy (LaVerne) Todd of Lacey, WA, Daniel (Cynthia) Todd of Riverside, OH, Jeff (Rita) Todd of So. Sioux city, and Steve (Michelle) Mathiesen of Papillion, NE; 24 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruby (Everett) King and Pearl (Bruce) Riordon; and brothers, Leonard (Phyllis) Todd, and Wilbur Todd.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jeannine; son, Jim Mathiesen; grandchildren, Jason and Erica Todd; sisters, Hannah, Florence, and Wilma; and brothers, Fred, Lloyd, John, and Loren.
