| Kendall H. Roberts, 86, of Ponca passed away on Friday, March 21, 2014, at Elms Health Care Center in Ponca. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Evangelical Free Church in Ponca, with the Rev. Dennis Ritchey officiating. Burial will be in Silver Ridge Cemetery, rural Ponca. Visitation with the family present will be 5 to 7 p.m. today, at Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca. Kendall was born in rural Allen, NE, on March 23, 1927, the son of Richard and Ruth (Johnston) Roberts. He graduated from Allen High School in Allen, NE. He served in the US Army, then farmed west of Allen, NE. He married Wilma Bolton. The couple moved to a farm west of Ponca. Wilma passed away in 1973. Kendall married Bonnie Rhoades, and they continued to farm west of Ponca. Bonnie passed away in 2000. Kendall was a member of the Evangelical Free Church in Ponca, and the Ponca American Legion. He enjoyed farming, spending time with his grandchildren and visiting with his friends. Survivors include his son, Terry (Susan) Roberts of Ponca; grandchildren, Shannon (Mark) Johnson of Wayne, NE, Nicki (Tom) Decker of Wakefield, NE, Gina Hudelson of Sioux City, and JD Roberts of Ellsworth, MN; seven great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers, Arlene Goodell of Kearney, NE, Ardith (Myron) Armour of Smithland, IA, Courtland (Darlene) Roberts of Allen, NE, Sherill Halsey of Earp, CA, and Dallas (Janice) Roberts of Wakefield, NE; and many nieces and nephews. Kendall was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Ruth Roberts; his wives, Wilma and Bonnie; two infant great-grandsons; one infant brother; and brothers-in-law, LaVern Goodell, Merle Book and Dwaine Halsey. |
